Club

The Grange ABC Boxing Club has been running successfully for over ten years, previously in Station Road, Birchington. The two original coaches Michael Rennie and Steve Stevens developed the club into a very well respected boxing club. They were joined by Terry Collins a well respected coach.

They were looking for new premises three years ago and M P Egan our local dentist and Fiona his wife, stepped up to be counted. He has rented the club the former Quin Tools, in Surrey Gardens, Birchington-on-Sea, previously a small factory premises. Steve Stevens and Terry Collins, who ran the club, were ecstatic to have new premises. I spoke to Mick Geraghty who was Project Managing the site at the time and he said "We are in need of a long list of equipment, tools and local trades people to assist, any help would be appreciated". " We are installing new toilets, showers and it will be completely re-wired, plumbed and decorated". Mick Geraghty is also the Chairman of the club.

Well, that was three years ago and after various donations and some serious hard work the club is fitted out and successfully running 6 days and evenings a week!

Terry Collins retired in 2006 after a long and distinguished career as boxer and trainer.

John O'Neill joined the club and has become the heart of the club.

Steve Stevens sadly passed away last year and is sadly missed; fortunately he passed his knowledge and enthusiasm over to John O'Neill the Assistant Coach.

John is assisted by three outstanding trainers. Come along and meet us all!
